The Waterfall occurrence is located on a southwest facing slope, approximately 900 metres north of Sulphurets Lake.

The area is underlain by andesitic tuff of the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation, Hazelton Group. The andesite is overlain by, and in fault contact with greywacke.

Locally, at the Waterfall zone, stringers and disseminations of chalcopyrite and pyrite occur over an area of about 15 by 50 metres. A 1.5 metre trench sample contained 0.75 per cent copper, 0.045 per cent molybdenite, 9.26 grams per tonne silver and 0.10 grams per tonne gold (Bridge et al, 1981).

Another zone of mineralization referred to as the Canyon zone is located approximately 450 metres to the south east and may be continuous with the Sulphurets (MINFILE 104B 182) occurrence. The zone has been tested by several short drill holes over a length of 250 metres along a gossanous ridge. Drilling has intercepted large zones of intensely phyllic to chloritic altered volcanics, possible with some porphyritic intrusive intervals, hosting abundant quartz veining and 10 to 25 per cent pyrite.

In 1980, drilling of the Canyon zone yielded intercepts including 0.11 per cent copper and 1.01 grams per tonne gold over 128 metres in hole S81-25, 0.07 per cent copper and 0.93 gram per tonne gold over 123 metres in hole S81-18 and 0.15 per cent copper with 1.15 grams per tonne gold over 92 metres in hole S81-23 (Lechner, M.J. (2007-04-06): Mitchell Creek Technical Report).

In 1991, a drill hole (S91-391), collard approximately 250 metres north west of the Canyon zone, yielded 0.1 per cent copper and 0.7 gram per tonne gold over 127 metres (Lechner, M.J. (2007-04-06): Mitchell Creek Technical Report).

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Sulphurets (MINFILE 104B 182) occurrence and a completed regional exploration history can be found there.
